Here's How It Works

The Hydra Wedge's specially designed bill is positioned between the casting and the gate. When the operator activates the wedge, the bill opens, separates the pieces and closes automatically. It's that easy. Once the product is sorted, the operator moves on to the next piece.

Multiple Hydra Wedge tools can operate from a single power unit, producing peak breaking power and fast cycle times. Tools can easily be removed from service in seconds using flush-face no-drip quick couplers and TPC control cord quick couplers.

The Hydra Wedge hydraulic power units are built to withstand tough foundry conditions. An in-tank return line filter, reservoir breather filter, plus a kidney loop sub-micron filtration system maintain hydraulic fluid integrity. The oil cooler has an independent circulation loop with a 19GPM flow rate driven from the fan motor, allowing continued cooling even if the main pump should shut down in at high limit condition. The Hydra Wedge system can operate one to six tools off a single pump using low operating pressure of 2500 psi.

All the benefits of "high pressure" hydraulic power without the safety risks.

Power, Safety & Versatility

Hydra Wedge tools are designed and manufactured with safety, performance, and durability as top priorities. Low operating pressure (2500 psi max) eliminates heavy hoses, threaded couplers and the inherent dangers of a “high pressure” hydraulic system.

Multiple Hydra Wedge models are available with breaking forces from 14 to 160 tons. Tool handles are designed for operator comfort and efficiency. The Hydra Wedge tool is designed to be used in either a vertical or horizontal position for increased maneuverability and efficiency. The slider wedge does not extend past the bill tips, which makes the tool effective on a broader range of castings.
